Youth climate action is not only about awareness. It becomes truly transformative when young people have concrete opportunities to learn, experiment, create, and act within their communities.
This is exactly what Green Seeds shows. Based on research carried out in Haute-Garonne and Thuringia, the project found that young people are concerned about climate change, but often face several barriers: lack of time, limited access to clear information, few practical opportunities, financial constraints, eco-anxiety, and the feeling of not being fully heard in decision-making spaces.
In response, Green Seeds promotes a simple idea: if we want to strengthen youth engagement in climate action, it is not enough to ask young people to act. We also need to provide tools, support, participatory spaces, and practical experiences. This is why the project developed the Comparative Report, the Green Seeds Toolkit, and the Resource Center, to support young people and youth workers in sustainability education and climate action.
The project also tested these approaches through pilot activities and a youth exchange held in Germany from 17 to 26 August 2025, where participants from France and Germany could learn together, test tools, and imagine local actions for environmental change.
Through this awareness campaign, Green Seeds wants to highlight that young people are not only beneficiaries of the green transition. They can be drivers of it, as long as their participation is supported, recognised, and connected to real opportunities for action.
