Guideline for Youth Workers: European Values and Civic Engagement

Guideline for Youth Workers: European Values and Civic Engagement

The Guideline for Youth Workers: European Values and Civic Engagement was created within the Erasmus+ project Promoting EU Values Across Borders, a small-scale partnership in the field of youth bringing together Fundacja Kordon, Association Petite Graine and Next Level e.V.

This resource was designed to support youth workers, organisations, educators and local actors who want to make European values more concrete in their work with young people. The guideline explores how human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, human rights, solidarity, inclusion and civic participation can be translated into practical and accessible youth work activities.

The document provides a methodological framework for moving from awareness to action. It helps youth workers create safe, inclusive and motivating spaces, support young people with fewer opportunities, engage rural youth, migrant and refugee youth, and encourage meaningful local civic action.

The guideline also includes a practical toolbox with ready-to-use activity sheets, including Values in Everyday Life, Community Mapping and Needs Walk, PhotoVoice, Collage for Self-Expression, Story Circles for Intercultural Dialogue, Media and Disinformation Lab, and Local Democracy Simulation.

This resource can be used in workshops, youth clubs, international exchanges, community events and awareness-raising activities. It aims to help young people understand European values, identify issues in their communities, build confidence and take action.

The guideline is available online and can be freely consulted by youth workers, organisations and anyone interested in non-formal education, civic engagement and youth inclusion.
